craft fair goodies

Sharing a few pretty things I took home from this weekend’s Renegade Craft Fair.

My first Renegade was in Sept. 2003 in Chicago and I was a participant back then – feels a bit like another lifetime. (p.s. Where did all my energy go?!) This year, my family and I attended as shoppers/fans and had ourselves a ball.

posters available here.

And I came upon a modern trio of wood carvings from Dave Marcoullier ( so sweet + talented). You can see his work here and buy it here.

I’m thinking about going vertical on the side of the fireplace/room divider. Here’s a photoshop mock-up. Hanging these will require finding my masonry drill bit, but you get the idea. The proportions are pretty close too.

update on the drapes

with 6 comments

My ebay (Ikea Jorun Lov/Luv) drapes arrived. I put two sets (one pair in the center and a panel on each side of the wall). They are nice wide panels, so I’m debating slicing them down the middle to even it all out. The more I think about it, the more I like that idea. For now, they are hung and I like the look and they keep the living/dining areas so cool.

The secret to making your succulents grow.

Do not touch them. Ever. Really! Just don’t touch them. Well, okay, you can touch them but know that when you touch them you are actually stunting their growth. Isn’t this sad? It was sad for me since I was hoping my pretty succulents would take the place of real life pets, but no, they don’t. They don’t want to be messed with. Ever.

See proof here. These little guys only started growing when I was on vacation. Grrr.

And you can see I’ve included the new growth on my Yucca plant. Is it a succulent? I don’t know, but it sure does act like it!

Now, if you want a plant you can play with everyday. I highly recommend the (Boston) FERN! Ferns are so much fun. They want to be watered and misted and like when you remove their dead leaves. Ahh Ferny, I love ya!

Because I cannot get enough of glass bottles and jars…introducing the Frame Jar.
jar
Works best with seated pictures, but jumping pictures might be fun too. And, if you are doing a b/w photo, how about filling the jar up with stones or candies for color?

Please, don’t hate me.

I really have zero patience for door-to-door solicitation of *any* kind. I’m talking everyone from pest control companies to girl scouts. They sometimes interrupt my very precious family time on weekend or in the evenings and I am just over it. So…if there is such thing as a nice way to tell people to KEEP AWAY, well, maybe this sticker is it (available here).
