words are powerful.

I picked these *easily removable* metallic alphabet stickers off a clearance end cap for $3 and transformed them into an important daily reminder.

Sure, they are crooked, off-center and not very well-balanced, but who cares? They are already working 😉

happy morning everyone.

No more blinding white walls bouncing light all over the room and attacking my eyeballs first thing in the morning. Ahhh so peaceful.

kiss

I still need to hang all the art/clocks/photos back up and paint the trim. More pictures coming soon.

picked a paint

Valspar’s City Storm. A “pure” grey, if there is such a thing.

chosen color

I’m going flat, not eggshell or satin. I need light to come in and get absorbed into these walls – no bouncing around rays for me.

master painting

with 6 comments

After living with the super bright white paint in the master bedroom for the last few months, I’ve decided a little bit of color will be a good thing. Because there is no arbor over the master bedroom sliders, it gets a lot of direct sunlight. The white walls actually hurt my eyes in the morning.

I’m (most likely) sticking with grey, maybe steely blue grey or a greenish or chocolate grey?

but, oh boy, these blues are pretty wonderful too.

bags plus boots

with 2 comments

bags + boots

– inside the bags: out-of-season items (wool tights, scarfs, gloves, thermal tops, turtlenecks and the like) are kept until next winter while helping bags retain their shape, and more importantly, not taking up prime real estate in my drawers and closet.

– inside the boots: rolled-up hand towels and dish towels that have seen better days. (How about these to replace them?)

Handbags on display = warm and happy feelings in my heart (I realize that is freaky). Luckily, Husband doesn’t seem to mind, at the moment. Shelving unit was left in the garage by the previous owners.

Lilia delivered these pretty canvases to our place last night. It was the icing on the cake that was my birthday weekend.

my version of the branch jewelry display

with 3 comments

diy jewely display

I took 2 branches from my backyard, painted one white and kept the second one natural. I tied them together with twine and then hung it up with twine too. That’s it! It is hanging above my bedside table. I will add some sort of lamp there, but it will have to be simple to not overpower my jewelry display. Custom babywearing figure is from a maker on etsy. (will add link when I remember the name)
