LED Glansa string lights from IKEA – I highly recommend these little lights!
sorry, can’t find the link on their site though.

and the number 1 reason why living in the burbs is not all bad: my own personal sunset.

desperately seeking sunshine

The hallway connecting the bedrooms and bathrooms is a total dark zone. My first thought was to add a light tube or two (like from this company). While that is still a possibility, another idea is on my mind. Why not replace ALL of our interior doors with glass doors? The natural light from the bedroom windows can illuminate the hall and using frosted glass will provide the privacy you’d expect for a bedroom or bathroom.

The glass will also add visual space and open up a dark and narrow hallway.

floor lamp! score!

Been coveting the Arco floor lamp for a while now but the original and its many rip-offs are usually too tall for our home’s ceilings, but yesterday I found this version for cheaper. We are going to pick it up tonight. Hooray for lighting!

never say never

If you would’ve asked me a month ago if I was considering a ceiling fan for my house, I would’ve given you a polite reply and all the while been internally pondering what I’d *ever* done to make you ask me such a ridiculous question. Welp, that was then and this is now! While wandering the aisles of Home Depot one chilly weekday morning, I looked up, saw this fixture and had to have it. It has that playful, retro, simple, 1950’s soda fountain look that gives the playroom/kitchen a homey grounded vibe. The fact that it will keep us cool in the summertime is pretty nice too.

let there be light (in the dining room)

dining room

Fixture was installed (Thank you, Bakari) on my birthday. Parents and Son were drawn to it almost immediately. Between the time it arrived and was hung, I had a few moments of insecurity, but now that it’s up there, I’m feeling good about it.

As for the dining room decor, our original table is staying and I’m 99% certain about going with a mix+match approach to the chairs. Nothing else has been decided. I don’t even have any inspiration photos to share just yet.

More lighting photos coming soon! Next week, Bakari will be back to hang the playroom fixture, guest room chandelier, Daughter’s chandelier and a wall sconce in the master bedroom. Light is a very very good thing. Hooray for light!
