sunburst mirror, check.

leave a comment »

No sunburst clock yet, but I did manage to grab a handsome sunburst mirror for $20 on craigslist.
Super sweet seller too (Hey, Maianna.)
check out that faux boisish texture!

**note: all photos on this blog, with few exceptions, are taken with my iphone.
I can’t even promise “real camera” pics anymore without feeling guilty.

not so secret

TV components are ugly. We have ours tucked into a slightly less ugly Ikea Hol table/cube. Hol does a good job of keeping most of the wires hidden. The open grid pattern means the remote control still works as it should too. Being able to stick our fingers through to use the components manually for those times the remote control goes on vacation is an added bonus. Hol cubes are $30 in the store. I try Craigslist before I buy most things and snagged it for $15.

Painting or staining it is on my list, but I’m not 100% committed to keeping it and don’t want to put in unnecessary effort. For now, it does what I need it to do so I’ll just wait and see how I feel about it in the future.

option one

with one comment

When Husband and I were first married (has it really been 10 years?!), the house we lived in had a HUGE bird of paradise plant (at least 5 feet tall) along the driveway. When I saw the craigslisting for this mirror, I did not hesitate. The fact that it was $20 and located just 5 minutes away didn’t hurt either. Not sure if it will remain in the dining area, but I’m giving the look a test drive.

floor lamp! score!

Been coveting the Arco floor lamp for a while now but the original and its many rip-offs are usually too tall for our home’s ceilings, but yesterday I found this version for cheaper. We are going to pick it up tonight. Hooray for lighting!

white board remix

My craigslist white board was taking up way too much space in the playroom, so we changed it up a bit.

Scored these Danish modern (from a local orthodontist office) chairs for practically free! Happy happy happy dance. They’ll be re-upholstered in some lighter color at some point in the future. I’ll wait until we have a new sofa to decide color/fabric.

maybe you’ve noticed that I’m back to my lazy ways and iphone photos?

letter treasure.

a $20 craigslist find: wood sign making letters from way back when signs were made by stamping. No plans yet for these, but job #1 is cleaning them off and making sure no critters live among them or in them.

I already feel deep feelings for these quirky backwards letters. swoon.
