to treat or not to treat?

Should I add a window treatment to the full (half) wall of windows in the kitchen? The late afternoon sun is a killer, but the sunset is so so pretty.

  1. This is a tough one. I had the same challenge with our living room windows because the view of the bay is so amazing. We opted for solar shades to keep the heat under control. Not that beautiful, but they are roller shades so they almost disappear when they are up, and you can still see through them. They made an amazing difference in the heat and glare though! Hmm, let me find a link…
These are shown in beige, but if you can stand a darker color they let a lot more of the view in.

  2. Kim, Thanks! I don’t remember what these look like in your house though. Do you have a picture?

    • I don’t, but maybe I could take a video. Camera is still (sob) broken.

  3. So, I took a video with a little extra help from Morgan. See if you can view it here and let me know if it didn’t work since this is my first try at uploading to youtube.

  4. Great job with the video 🙂 Thanks. I see they are outside mount, can you mount them inside your window “box”?

    • These were inside mount before the construction. After we replaced the windows, they didn’t quite fit anymore so instead of spending the money all over again we just used them as outside mount. They do look a lot cleaner mounted inside.
